Kathleen's Career

Before law, Kathy had an extensive career in the social services field as a social worker, supervisor and director of the Government of Yukon department responsible for health and social services, a social worker for Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (formerly DIAND), and a family counselor.

Kathy's family practice includes advising clients on issues relating to:

  • Divorce including division of assets, spousal support for both married and unmarried spouses;
  • Child-related matters, such as custody and guardianship, access, child support;
  • Acting as a Child Lawyer; and
  • Negotiating and drafting marriage, cohabitation and separation agreements.

In addition to her family law practice, Kathy works in all aspects of estate planning and administration including:

  • Preparation of wills;
  • Enduring powers of attorney;
  • Representation agreements and testamentary trusts;  and,
  • Applications for probate and letters of administration.

Kathy has appeared in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal of the Yukon Territory, the Supreme Court of the Yukon Territory, the Territorial Court of Yukon and before the Yukon Water Board.
